Abstract:China has a lot of cultural heritage,in order to be able to successfully declare a world cultural heritage,it is necessary to accurately understand and explain the outstanding universal value of and the heritage. The analysis of the foreign and domestic literature, and the comparison with the past evaluation work of the value of the cultural heritage for the application for world cultural heritage, are used for reference,in the study of the Grand Canal application for world cultural heritage,so as to explore and improve the method of the evaluation and analysis. The outstanding universal value (OUV) assessment of cultural heritage and determine action of the composition of the heritage is the basic core to declare world cultural heritage. This article describes methods of analysis and the assessment of the OUV of the cultural heritage, which provides a reference for future study.

    • A detailed study of the conservation of the Qijia culture house remainsin the Lajia site,Qinghai

      2009, 21(2):9-16.

      Abstract (566) HTML (0) PDF 735.03 K (2008) Comment (0) Favorites

Abstract:The four Qijia culture house foundations in the Lajia site were excavated in 2000 and 2001.In the following years, unfortunately, the remains were seriously deteriorated due to many physical and biochemical factors;the house remains and the human skeletons inside were damaged to various degrees. All these environmental factors resulted in the changes of their original physical conditions.A package of measures for in[JX-*6]situ conservation and consolidation of these features and finds was made and according to the site condition and other visual documents. After this programme was approved by the authorities, the work of the physical conservation and chemical consolidation was undertook, and it became possible to exhibit this significant natural disaster site to the public.

    • Recovery both the morphological and acoustic characteristics of JIULIANDUNchimes in the warring states period

      2009, 21(2):17-26.

      Abstract (1171) HTML (0) PDF 1.36 M (2131) Comment (0) Favorites

Abstract:The coventional conservation procedure for broken chimes is adhesive bonding or Stannum brazing after the orthopedic procedures. This method can recovery the shape of chimes, but can not recovery their acoustics characteristics. This paper introduced the method of laser welding used in conservation of the broken chimes. By the detailed study of orthopedic procedures, welding process and filler materials, etc.,the broken chimes unearthed from JIULIANDUN Chu tombs in the warring states period are well recovered both in morphological and acoustic characteristics. This conservation method is innovative for the recovery of morphological and acoustic characteristics of antique metallic musical instrument.

    • The study in protecting bronze with film forming of fluororubber

      2009, 21(2):27-33.

      Abstract (589) HTML (0) PDF 678.78 K (2080) Comment (0) Favorites

Abstract:In order to study the protective function of the fluorine rubber material to bronze artifacts, various protective agents using the fluorine rubber,B72,single set fluorine carbon(KL),the organic siliconcrylic resin were confected. After protecting the bronze test block, some test, such as test of beared salt fog, test of beared sulphur dioxide, test of beared hot and damp and so on were done. The result shows, the performance of single composition fluorine rubber aqua is the best in superly more than one half the experiment, the performance of the aquas containing fluorine rubber better than other materialseses of aquas.

    • Study and inspection of iron objects excavated form palace site of Wandu Mountain City

      2009, 21(2):34-43.

      Abstract (542) HTML (0) PDF 1.78 M (2111) Comment (0) Favorites

Abstract:The deterioration of iron artefacts may involve a number of different decay mechanisms and produce a variety of morphologies dependent on the mode of formation of the deterioration product and the type of artefact concerned.Metal artifacts deterioration can be considered as derived from reconstructiton. It is here that discussion of the layer of band and branch microstructures observed in Koguryǒ ancient iron artefacts, which is forwardable to achieve better preserving state through metallography microscopy and SEM examination. The relative mild climate burial conditions are in favor of metal artifacts conservation, which may be one of the most important reasons that produced the solid precipitation which has a type of special morphology.

    • Influence of calcium propionatewaterethanol mixed solution on deacidificationeffect on papercultural relics

      2009, 21(2):44-47.

      Abstract (1151) HTML (0) PDF 267.64 K (2121) Comment (0) Favorites

Abstract:A new mixed system of Ca(CH3CH2COO)2—H2O—CH3CH2OH is used in deacidification of papercultural relics.Effect of different quantities of calcium propionate in the mixed waterethanol saturated solution, the ratio of water and ethanol, the volume of mixed solution, and the time of paper dipping in solution are studied for acidremoving from papercultural relics. The results suggest that the effect of acid removing from paper is better when calcium propionate is 3g in the waterethanol saturate solution. After immersed in the mixed solution, the value of paper's pH is about 7,the natural drying speed of paper is fast,no color changing and no crimple observed in the paper.

    • The physical characteristics of rock cliff figures in Sichuan province

      2009, 21(2):48-52.

      Abstract (609) HTML (0) PDF 211.28 K (2074) Comment (0) Favorites

Abstract:Damage to the rock cliff figures, such as weathering, denudation, and cracking caused by natural force, are very much related to the rock's physical and chemical composition. Therefore,it is important to study and analyze the physical characteristics of rocks before starting a preservation project for the rock cliff figures.Random samples taken from various rock cliff figures in the area have been tested. Results show that the rock is sandstone with a natural tendency for crumbling(softening). These findings establish a basic foundation to begin protection project on the rock cliff figures.

    • Conservation of ancient horse bone in Zhaoyang tomb in the late Springand Autumn period

      2009, 21(2):58-71.

      Abstract (638) HTML (0) PDF 2.65 M (2038) Comment (0) Favorites

Abstract:The ancient horse bone in Zhaoyang tomb in the Late Spring and Autumn Period has been embedded for over 2500 years and has suffered from serious deterioration. The horse bone was cut into sections and was broken during several transportations. The surface of the bone was efflorescent due to disposal open to the air for long.In order to treat the breakage and efflorescence of ancient horse bone and support it properly, the following methods were adopted. The structure of the horse bone was observed by SEM;the mechanical properties were examined;the supporting soil underneath the horse bone was changed and lightened;the water vapour from the floor was prevented;the bone was reconstructed;and finally the bone was protected from weathering. The conservation of ancient horse bone in Zhaoyang tomb in the Late Spring and Autumn Period was successfully achieved in May,2008.
