Abstract:Focusing on the printing blocks of The Qianlong Tripitaka from the Capital Museum, China, this study employed a suite of multi-dimensional digital imaging measures, including photography, infrared and ultraviolet photography, microscopic imaging, three-dimensional imaging and spectral imaging, to acquire image data. Specifically: the standard camera captured baseline images of the blocks; the infrared and ultraviolet camera documented large-scale deterioration patterns; the optical microscope recorded fine details such as cracks and engraving features; the electron microscope analyzed the extent of wood aging; the computed tomography (CT) scanner revealed the internal wood structure; the 3D laser scanner generated three-dimensional models; and the hyperspectral imager identified concealed information on the blocks. By integrating these approaches, comprehensive multi-dimensional digital imagery of the printing blocks was obtained, laying a foundation for the subsequent development of a digital archive and enabling their innovative and practical utilization.
