    Abstract:

NOx is an important kind of pollutants relevant for cultural relic conservation. It has been noted recently that bamboo carbon is a plentiful and cheap adsorbent for removing pollutants. In this paper, the adsorption effect of low temperature bamboo carbon for removing NOx is studied.Surface modification of low temperature bamboo carbon was studied by SEM.Results of these studies showed that low temperature bamboo carbon can remove between 84%~94% of NO when initial concentration of NO is between 133~457μg/m3 and is between 93.3%~97.7% of NO2 when concentration of NO2 is between 82~453μg/m3.When NOx, which is a mixture of NO and NO2,is 500μg/m3,the adsorption level for NO decreases to 44.7%,whereas it remains at 98% for NO2.
