By virtue of the excellent skills and wisdom of artisans, our ancestors turned soil into “gold”, making Chinese ceramics a great and famous contribution to the human civilization and culture. However, many fragile ancient ceramics have suffered irreversible damages over the past long years of the history, causing great losses. In this paper, the author summed up his 20-year experience in terms of restoring ancient ceramics and made a comprehensive comparison of various methods of replication and restoration to provide a reference for the safe and effective restoration and replication of different types of ancient ceramics.
