青铜器修复中蜡质封护材料的性能研究

    烫蜡封护在隔离保护领域的应用由来已久,在青铜器封护中的实操案例丰富。但在封护材料的性能研究中,蜡质材料多作为人工合成材料的对照组出现,尚未发现针对蜡质材料封护性能的报告存在。故此,实验对象选择了青铜器修复中使用频率较高的微晶石蜡、虫白蜡和白蜂蜡。对蜡质材料的抗紫外性能、抗盐雾腐蚀性能和抗复合条件腐蚀性能进行验证。结果表明:虫白蜡在盐雾湿热老化实验中出现明显色变,色差数值(ΔE)超过极限数值18 NBS;白蜂蜡在烫蜡封护过程中出现不同程度的变黑情况,在复合老化实验中出现黑化变质现象;微晶石蜡经过各项测试冲击过后,劣化程度较轻,保护效能发挥较好。综上所述,通过对三款蜡质封护材料的实验数据进行整理分析,最终发现微晶石蜡的封护效果较好,能够较好地隔绝易使青铜器劣化的相关因素。

    Abstract:

    The application of hot wax sealing in isolation and protection has a long history and is widely used in industries such as lacquered wooden furniture maintenance and metal anti-corrosion treatment. Thanks to the excellent hydrophobicity and film-forming density of wax materials, they have been frequently used in the conservation and restoration of bronze artifacts. Therefore, microcrystalline paraffin wax, insect white wax, and white beeswax—commonly used in actual restoration—were selected for this study. The UV resistance, salt spray corrosion resistance, and composite condition corrosion resistance of these sealing materials were evaluated. The results show that:1) insect white wax exhibited significant color change during salt spray hygrothermal aging, with a color difference value (ΔE) exceeding the 18 NBS limit; 2) white beeswax underwent varying degrees of blackening during the hot wax sealing process and also deteriorated under composite aging; 3) microcrystalline paraffin wax showed a relatively milder degree of degradation and better conservation effect across tests. In summary, through analyzing experimental data from the three wax sealing materials, it was found that microcrystalline paraffin wax had superior sealing properties and could effectively isolate the factors that lead to bronze deterioration.
